crossed wires, crossed thoughts
mental illness is a difficult, constant, and ever-changing fight that is unique to each person who lives with one. design can be used to convey emotion and internal battles that are difficult to put into words.
this project is based on my own experiences dealing with mental illness. it is designed as a series of evocative multimedia compositions to help viewers understand, through visual means, the thoughts and emotions that come with living with a psychological disability that are hard to describe in any other way.

the process began with a stream of consciousness poem in which i attempted to describe several physical and mental hardships of mental illness

simple sketches to visualize some parts of the poem

using scans of myself and printouts of phrases in the poem to create the visuals

the scans were combined on photoshop

edits on the first iterations of the posters
